George Jackson Academy (GJA) is an independent school in NYC for bright boys in grades 4-8. Created to engage young men at a time when they are particularly vulnerable to disengaging from school, GJA creates a life-changing experience, encouraging students to grow as scholars, friends and brothers.
A small all boys school with a 1:12 teacher to student ratio, GJA offers an engaging and challenging curriculum, test prep, counseling and a full time High School Placement Director. 4th and 5th graders in the Bronx and Upper Manhattan are eligible for free bus service.
George Jackson was transformed by his own all-boys school experience. Raised by a single mother in Harlem, Jackson shared a vision of transformative education for other boys like him. He graduated from Fordham Prep and Harvard University and went on to become CEO of Motown Records.
Each year, GJA graduates enter the nation’s best day, boarding and public high schools such as the Taft School, Riverdale Country School and Stuyvesant HS. 100% graduate from High School, and 98% of graduates attend a 4 year college. See more about our impact here.
Our Financial Aid
GJA is a private school education with costs specific to each student. Tuition is based on family size, income and other factors. No child is ever denied admission because he cannot pay.
